Hand Building Classes

Hand Building is one of the most versatile ways of working with clay and is integral for being a well-rounded potter. 6 week courses are designed to include teacher demonstrations, ample student work time, and time for glazing. From pinch, to coil, to slab; let’s create something amazing using one of our oldest art forms.

All classes include: clay, tools, supportive instruction, glaze, and firing. The 6 week classes listed here are intended for ages 18 and up. For younger potters, please check out the Teens + Kids Tab.

  • This course is designed to provide even very beginners with a strong foundation of skills and understanding in hand building forms (pinch, coil, slab), attachments, and more. Classes and projects are teacher-guided with plenty of room for student creativity and input. Bisque and glaze firing of work is included. 6 week courses also get access to our custom glaze lab.

  • In this course, we will try out more complex and larger hand building techniques and forms. The content can vary by course and student interest. Bisque and glaze firing of work is included. 6 week courses also get access to our custom glaze lab.

  • This course is for experienced potters who want the time and space to create with advice and technical help as needed. Come to class with ideas and projects in mind. Bisque and glaze firing of work is included.
